Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced an extension of its cloud services partnership with Barclays, confirming HPE GreenLake Cloud as a key element in Barclays’ hybrid cloud strategy. This new agreement builds upon the initial partnership established in 2021.
Progress and Achievements
- Migration and Deployment: Over the past two and a half years, HPE has assisted Barclays in migrating and deploying more than 50,000 workloads to its private cloud infrastructure. The bank plans to double this number in the next three years.
- Benefits: This migration will enable Barclays to decommission outdated systems, free up rack space, and save significant amounts of power. The reduction of technical debt and modernization of workloads will lead to decreased power and cooling consumption, thus reducing the carbon footprint of the bank’s IT operations.
Barclays’ Statement

Future Plans
- Innovation Focus: In the next phase, Barclays and HPE will explore opportunities for innovation within the private cloud environment. This includes leveraging data and emerging technologies, as well as optimizing the developer experience with user-friendly interfaces and seamless integrations.
